Developing Critical Reflection Skills in a Formal Coach Education Program

Alongside knowledge and understanding of the sport (what to coach) strategies support learning (how coach), critical reflection is an important feature high-quality coaching practice. Accordingly, there a clear need for evidence-based tools frameworks appreciating developing coaches’ skills, through coach education programs. The purpose this study share results intervention intended develop skills formal gymnastics program within Flemish School Coach Education (Belgium). A pre–post test design was used compare development written in 25 coaches (14 11 control). Statistical analysis data revealed that had significant ( p < .01) impact on quality reflection. Coaches exhibited positive, upward, trajectory from descriptive verbalizations deeper level self-awareness, greater criticality, along with demonstrating willingness adopt alternative ideas/approaches. Findings are discussed relation existing research as education. This offers unique strategy has potential meet needs program.
